Scottish Bakers represents and promotes the interests of the bakery trade in Scotland. To support the delivery of its wide range of work-based learning initiatives, they appointed Aurion Learning to design and develop an online food and drink training academy.
To meet the technical and educational prerequisites of this project, we set up a series of workshops to identify the core requirements to structure the outcomes.
Working collaboratively with subject matters from Scottish Bakers, we set about dividing the project into two phases to accommodate the include the design and build of the main portal and qualification functionality and the integration and single-sign on with the VQ Management system and Scottish Bakers website.
James Allen Bakery Academy was developed and launched. The online learning portal is also fully scaleable to allow for new qualifications to be added over time with ease. The portal is also fully content manageable by internal Scottish Bakers personnel.
To complement the learning portal, we also designed and developed a suite of interactive and engaging online learning content on topics including Hygiene & Food Safety for Food Handlers, Understanding Ingredients, The Baking Process, and Resource Efficiency that incorporated a range of audio and video materials and practical skills demonstrations.
Scottish Bakers are now have a fully content-manageable online learning portal for apprentice bakers to house the learning assets with each of the qualifications offered.
