Health Service Executive

Challenge

As the main national healthcare body in Ireland, the Health Service Executive (HSE) delivers a vast range of health and social care services.

The HSE needed a solution that would allow them to transfer learning, training and development from traditional classroom training to blended and online learning for its 100,000 health and social care professionals at all levels.

Solution

As the sole eLearning partner of the HSE, Aurion Learning works collaboratively with the organisation to design, build and deliver its online learning and development portal, HSELanD.

We have also:

  • Designed and developed of a range of targeted Practice Development Hubs offering content and resources in specialist areas to facilitate knowledge sharing between multidisciplinary groups and support national initiatives such as Integrated Discharge Planning and Change Management.
  • Deployed NetDimensions Talent Suite, a powerful learning and talent management platform to administer, monitor and assess the impact of the learning, training and development initiatives.
  • Created an extensive suite of custom eLearning modules and resources, and provided a targeted suite of off-the-shelf eLearning content.
  • Configured a classroom management process and booking features to allow users to register for live learning events in their organisation.
  • Developed an ePortfolio, a personal development planning (PDP) workbook and 360 competency assessment tool, enabling users to plan their learning and development over time.
  • Delivered technical and learning strategy support services to end users and the HSELanD team.

Results

The HSE has successfully integrated HSELanD as part of its learning and development strategy.

The online learning and development portal provides a central source of high quality online training, learning and development opportunities to all registered users that enables them to develop new personal and professional skills or update and refresh existing skills.

Since its launch, over 12 million learning hours have been completed and over 80,000 active learners are accessing learning and development opportunities at a time and place to suit their needs.

“Each member of the Aurion Learning team brings a unique expertise to the initiative, and a willingness to share knowledge and skills. This is a winning formula and has in no small way contributed to the success of the project. We’re glad to have them on board.” Pat Kenny, National eLearning Manager, HSE
